Within the battlefield exists four levels of elevation that can be occupied for attack and defense. There are many ways to increase elevation with tech and natural geology.
The atmosphere on Wreel is weak due to its non-rotational state. At higher elevations the air is cold and the oxygen is thin causing tech to fail. Because of this even flying combatants can elevate no higher than 5 km, the beginning of the Wreel's mesosphere.
The first layer of elevation is at sea level. Most combatants prefer to keep their feet on the ground but lower-ground is tactically inferior to attacking from elevated terrain and in-flight.
The second layer of elevation is the ionosphere which, on Wreel, is the equivalent elevation of a small hill. Attacking a target on ground zero from the ionosphere will result in +1 to attack range and a 10% increase in critical strike chance. Chance of dodging an attack from ground zero increases 10%.
Attacking a target in the ionosphere level from the troposphere will result in a +1 to attack range and a 10% increase in critical strike chance. Chance of dodging an attack from the ionosphere increases 10%, from ground zero will result in a 25% increase in dodge chance. However, attacking a target on ground zero from the troposphere will result in a 5% decrease in critical strike chance.
Mainly used only for scouting the battlefield, the stratosphere is not ideal for most tech. Certain probes can be elevated to this level in order to survey the battle-field. These probes increase the perception of any combatant linked to it which increases their dodge chance and may enable them the ability to "see" cloaked opponents and traps.
